San Mateo ISE Show Starts Today The 14th

I am working late at the shop getting baits ready for tomorrow's, or shall I say today's ISE show. It will be in San Mateo as usual. ISE show info – Doors open at 11:00 am, running through this Sunday.

I will have a bunch of customs on hand that will be show-only specials. Here is a taste:

Sneek Peek At The New JSJ “Dirty Bird”

So For those of you who follow my blog may have caught word of another bait I spent the later part of summer and earlier fall working on. I had so much fun with the "Hell Bird" and "Hell Fish" that I was inspired to build the new JSJ "Dirty Bird".

 Oh Man – this is a fun one to fish. It is a single joint 8", 3 ounce topwater buzz type bait. Hell I don't even have a category to put it into.

It can be retrieved in a few different ways; burned or slow rolled without the bait diving, walked with a real tight action by slapping your rod tip to one side.It can also be popped like a big popper. The noise from the joint clacking combined with the buzz tail is a fish catching combo.

I will debuting them at the "Bass Jam" on the 14th and 15th of this month along with my new 10" Trout Wake Bait. There will be limited quantities so make sure to get there early.

Introducing The 10″ JSJ Trout Wake Bait

New JSJ 10 inch trout wake bait

Well folks, its been a year in the making on and off, now it's time to let her out of the box.

The New JSJ Trout is a 6 ounce 10" wake bait. I will be releasing the bait at the "Bass Jam" in Cotati on the 14th and 15th of November. All show baits will be custom colors, 100% hand painted including the dots.

JSJ Hell Bird “Updated”

I recently reached bait number 666 in my Trout line and figured I would do a short run of baits called the Hell Bird.

This is what I came up with, It is a Snack Size Trout painted up like a red headed black bird. The fins are  trimmed down slightly and it has a 4 prop buzz blade in place of the normal tail. The bait will sit tail down at a stand still and the buzz blade will turn at the slightest movment. All of the Hell Birds will come with 1/0 Owners, one size bigger than the normal Snack Size. This helps balance the bait a little better with the Buzz blade, and will increase hook ups will the extra bulk in the tail.

This swimbait-buzzbait bait is awsome, it can be direct retrieved or popped in short birsts to spit up a ton of water. I have killed them on the Delta and Clear Lake on this bait so far.

The Hell Bird is best fished near reeds and trees where our little bird friends like to hang out.

 I Just delivered a batch of these baits to Delta Outdoors in Oakley Ca.

I have a couple new baits that are nearing the end of the testing phase and are back in for final detail, I may post photos soon so keep posted.

Both of the new baits will probably be available this coming show season.

“Spring Fling” JSJ Custom Trout Bluegill

I just painted this up the other day and figured I would share it with you guys just for fun.
I have been prototyping and working on a couple new baits, I am hoping to have a least a sneak peek soon.

One will be a soft plastic bait available in floating and sinking if everything works out well. A good friend has been sharing in the effort on this one and I will be able to disclose some more info soon.

I have been getting a lot of requests for this color in my trout body bait, so I figured it was time. I just finished up a batch for Bills Baits in Massachusetts.

I will be making this a stock color. I am off to Bali on Monday for a much needed vacation, so I will get them out to stores soon after I get back.

10.73 Pound Bass Caught on the Snack Size Trout

As a bait maker it is always fun to recieve photos of fish caught on your baits.

I just received this photo from Rich Thiel. Rich is a guide on the Ca Delta and just caught the bass this weekend on the Snack Size Trout slow sinker. The bass weighed in at 10.73 lbs.

This is among the biggest fish I have heard of being caught on my baits so far, and a picture is worth a thousand words. Thanks Rich!
